I am building my first table with leaves, and as I do on all projects I am seeking advice from those who have experience. First, please just let me know what you have learned from projects. Especially need advice on sliders. The table will be made from "barnwood" and will have a closed overall length of 6 feet and with a planned expansion of 48 inches to 10 feet. A big one. Plan on running boards perpendicular to the expansion. Been looking at the Rockler sliders specifically their 29488 and the 29504 as per http://go.rockler.com/tech/29470-504.pdf . Any thoughts on these sliders would be appreciated also. Still a long expansion and just wondering if it is a go or not.

I prefer to use the metal Watertown slides from Moin Hardware in N.Y. I just received a set for a table I'm building. It will expand from 6'6" to 11'. The slides aren't cheap but I have used them a lot and never had any problems. The set I have cost $214.00 I think. A couple years ago I made one that went from 7' to almost 15'. I put a swing down support leg in the middle to insure against sag. Moin Hdwr sells all the stuff for that.

Here is a link to Moin Hardware - http://www.moinhardware.com/index.html These look like excellent slides. Wish the photos were better.

I just used these - http://www.osbornewood.com/table-slides-information.cfm Less expensive and seem to work very well. Great customer (and table) support. My top is 54" and extends to 90".

I would love a side by side comparison to the Watertowns.
