Sorry for the iPhone pix, no chance to get fancy before giving Mom her birthday present. Olive wood salt box, swivel lid, magnet closure. No finish, the wood takes a beautiful polish.

Nice, Maria. Perfect match of grain at the joint, and clever use of hardware.

Looks like the perfect salt box. Could you share what type of pivot you used?

I like it! I bought a bunch of 3x6x6's to make these, but the wood is still to wet. Let me ask, did you have a hard time lining up pivot and magnets?

Really nice box Maria. Really nice how the grain lines up.

Thanks everyone,
This was a challenge to line up the grain, even with the thin kerf produced by the bandsaw, as opposed to a parting tool. Jon, I actually had to redo the pivot hole, the first one put the lid off edge. Had better luck with the second. Lori, on this box I just used a nail with the head sawed off. On previous ones I've used brass rod, but I ran out and was in a hurry. I only glued the pivot to the bottom half.
Thanks for looking!

Beautiful piece, great job getting things lined up. This is yet another item I'd like to try making.
