My HVAC condensate pump's check valve is not working, the line is draining back into the pump making it run more often. It appears it is an easy removal and replace. Has anyone done this and is it as easy as it appears? The part is ~$5.00 on line plus shipping.

Thanks

Might be easier and cheaper to install a seperate check valve in the line above the pump.

I piped the condensate to a floor drain. Put the pump away for safe keeping.

Wish I could do this. My floor drain is in the middle of a walkway. When the house was built that is what they did but I was fearful that we would trip over the pipe running across the floor. Using a free drain takes one more component to fail out of the picture.

Is the outlet end of the line lower than the pump?

Th pumps sits on the floor and the outlet is just about 3" lower than the floor

+1 on the check valve idea.

My floor drain is in a traffic pattern in my basement shop. My solution was to put in a condensate pump and piped it to a P-trap in a floor drain in my first floor laundry. That thing kept drying out and I would have to pour water in it every couple of months. Piping in the condensate solved two problems for me.
