Is there a chance that I could find replacements for a saw that is 50 years old? Model no. is 113.29440. If not I am just going to weld a nut on the bottom of the shaft and use an impact to move it up and down. Does this sound like a good Idea or really dumb with the risk of ruining it?

Have you tried Sears Parts Direct? I looked up your model number and most parts appear to be available. Elevation Parts (http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/part-model/Craftsman-Parts/Saw-Parts/Model-11329440/0247/0744500/00025900/00004?blt=06&prst=0&shdMod=11329440) It looks like the gears come as part of the two shafts.

Thank you, I didn't have any luck when I typed it up. Thank you for the link.

Your saw is part of the Emerson/Sears saw recall. I would watch for one on Craigslist cheap, take the parts you need, and turn in the motor and yoke for the $100. I see these saws regularly on Craigslist for under $100. http://www.radialarmsawrecall.com/determinemodels.aspx
