This another experiment with the water based stains, along with another odd shape. I experienced more bleeding this time and had to try a different approach. I was mostly successful, still a little bleeding.

Used the pyro tool to outline the colored shapes, the technique is improving but still have some work to do.

Sprayed with lacquer, buffed with white diamond followed with Ren wax.

First of all, your dog will love it. May not be able to appreciate the clean lines, neat geometrical shapes, and fine staining, but will love whats inside and will love you for putting it there.

Nice bowl, by the way.

If you let the dog use that, it is a glorified dog! I love dogs but would not let one eat from such a nice bowl.

Really nice Bill! Your dye job looks good and the tall straight sides make a nice canvas.

So what is your approach? How do you apply the die and keep it from bleeding? I like it.
