Is it or isn't it a Stanley?

I'm looking to buy a used #5 plane. The cap iron says Stanley. But nowhere else on the plane body is it marked. All the Stanleys I've ever seen have either been marked Stanley or Bailey.

Anybody know if Stanleys have ever had an unmarked plane body?

Alot of the later Stanleys used in schools have no marking on the body. I'm not sure if they were a cheaper line made for institutional use or not. Most that I have seen had hardwood handles or later ones had plastic.
