I bought 5 pieces on eBay (same seller) of some spaulted wild apple. The lots were 2X2X6" and waxed. When I got them, the moisture content was 17%. I just had to turn one, and a friend of mine has a birthday coming up.....so I popped off an ice cream scoop in about 3 hours. the white spaulted area pretty much ran through all of the pieces, front to back, all sides. As the white was solid, but a bit softer than the red areas, I used CA glue for a finish (about 6 coats).

Dave,

Great lines on that handle. Good curve and a nice design. An ice cream scoop handle should be, IMO, substantial AND classy, and you have both. Pretty wood to boot. I hope the moisture won't cause any issues down the road......
