Completed these this week for an upcoming craft fair on the 17th.
All finishing is same as previously posted bowls, sanded to 320g then 4+ coats of satin WOP. 4-0 steel wool between coats.
Finish turned out nice and smooth so no buffing. All of the spalted maple was stabilized using Cactus Juice. The spalted Walnut was still good and firm.

Oops sorry if anyone just looked, I clicked on the submit button unintentionally. Pics coming in a few.

In most of the lids to these boxes I hid a feature that allows the lid to be chucked even when finished. See if you can tell what it is.

Thanks Len, it is a case of "have to" if I am to attend a show on the 17th. The local "Art Center" recently purchased my entire inventory of vessels, bottle stoppers, and miniature birdhouses, so to have anything for the 17th I had to go into production mode.

Thanks Kathy, I am kind of lucky in that I have several more of the spalted Maple. However, this one was the last of my spalted Walnut.

Nice work. The spalted Walnut is a beauty.
Thanks Marc, I agree, just wish I had some more of it but I will settle for what I do have which includes several more spalted Maple pieces and lots of Cherry, Bradford Pear, and Honey Locust.

very nice James, all are to be proud of, good luck at craft show
Thanks Charlie, I am hoping for some good luck too. The past couple times I been to this one weren't all that great. The only positive is that I will be there with a couple of friends. We will be sharing a booth.

Gus, I wish I was a little more original and imaginative but thanks for the vote of confidence. Most everything I do tends to be a plagiarized version of someone else's original. Wait till you see my next box, you will think Baxter posted a third one.

All are nice work, JD.......I especially like the spalted maple powder box, and the jewelry box is a nifty idea.......will rings fit over the top finial, like a ring tree?
