Here is my latest twisted and pierced form. Turned from Osage Orange to about 3/16" thick, pierced, spiraled and edge decorated. One more piece to take to the SWAT Symposium in a few weeks.
Tung oil finish. 5" x 2 1/2".
Comments and critiques are always welcome. Thanks 267883267884

It's got to be art as it won't hold water. Very well done beautiful piece, looks fragil. Great job on the piercing.

That has a lot of WOW factor. The design and great piercing work make it a winner.

That is a fantastic piece Scott. I will be posting one I'm taking to SWAT, but yours puts mine to shame. Looking forward to meeting you while there.

Great piece Scott. I think I would have liked a smooth edge on the spiral as there is so much going on in the rest of the piece, but overall I like it a lot. Great work again.

Very nice. Osage orange is one of my favorite woods. There a lot of stresses in this wood. Was it domestic or South American? The South American seems more stable, but I like to go out and harvest my own! (Store bought it was probably not domestic)

Cool! I like the shape, the spiral concept, the color, and the embellishments!

Thanks for the comments.

Steve, this is as domestic as you can get....as I cut the tree down! Hedge (Osage Orange) is the primary tree in almost every windrow around here.

None of my "shavings" look like that. That is something else. I'll have to be sure and set my pieces at SWAT on the opposite side of the room from yours. You have some exceptional pieces to display.
