Hi again, How useful is it to have an adjustable blade opening on a block plane. There is a pretty good $$ difference between the two LN ones and I wondered if it is worth it? Thanks

I have the Veritas and while adjusting the mouth is not something I do everyday, I do it frequently enough that I wouldn't want to be without it.

It is really handy! It add flexibility and allows for defferent cuts.

I think that in a block plane that is to be used for fine work, small light chamfers, cleaning up inlays, etc that an adjustable mouth is a must.

I'm with Steve and the others on this. It is a necessity for fine work, but sometimes you want to hog off a bit of wood, and so open is also needed. I have the LN LA 60 1/2, and it is used daily.

An adjustable mouth it is. I'll post pics of my new toy(s) when I get them. Thanks again for all the great guidance. Alan in Md.
