Fifty or sixty years ago, the Bruce company made an "Oak Floor Filler and Sealer." It was applied with a mop, then buffed into the floor with a 15" buffer and brush. When this was done, the room was blocked for a day, and the next day the floor was both filled, sealed and polished. I do not know whether the sealer was a varnish or a wax, but it was in one batch with the filler and was buffed on.

Does anyone have an idea what components made up this kind of product? Most of the fillers I see today appear to be meant for filling obvious cracks, one at a time, not the entire floor.
