It is not more "powerful" than the sun. It is more intense.

Fixed that for you :p I think the sun would be more intense if you were standing right next to its corona.

Feels hotter than than 1.3 kw/m2 here today, we are not used to hot weather in the UK, That laser has about the same power density as the sun through a magnifying glass. Still wouldnt fancy a blast in the eye with it mind you
