if this has been discussed before, but does anyone have experience using GF glaze effects as a glaze in between solvent-based lacquer or oil-based varnish coats? I've been using pigment and gel stains, but would like to branch out.
For those who make their own glaze, can you share a basic recipe?

I used GF glaze on a set of kitchen cabinets. The application was paint, followed by wb lacquer, GF glaze (van dyke brown), topped off with wb lacquer. I found it very easy to work with but the open time is not the greatest. Once applied to a door, you had to wipe fast and keep switching to cleaner rags. Once I developed a routine, it went pretty fast. I have gotten a lot of positive comments on the finish. BTW, I can't see any difference on using it between coats on wb vs. solvent based lacquers.

Thanks, Jeff. I just wasn't sure if it impeded the ability of subsequent topcoats to adhere.

A barrier coat of de-waxed shellac would ensure top coat adhesion. I'm sure you know that; maybe you just forgot...:)

Thanks, Scott. Just looking for a short cut.
