Morning all

I'm looking at making some chairs to complement this dining room table. What style would you suggest?

Kevin Rodel had an article in Fine Woodworking where he made an Arts & Crafts chair from Oak but mentioned that Cherry was also used before. This table is Cherry so I was thinking about that type of design but I'm not convinced.

Something comfortable - which that one is not (IMHO). Perhaps a Moser inspired chair with a padded leather seat?

Thanks Sam. Those do look pretty comfortable and remind me of something Jeff Miller was making.

I like that table. The flowing joint at the bottom feels elegant. It makes me feel a chair with more flowing joints would be appropriate. If you google 'maloof style' chair you might get some inspiration.

If you check out the chairs of Scott Morrison, he's taken (IMHO) Maloof concepts to the next level. You'll get nice inspiration for this style there.

Mike Fortune makes outstanding contemporary furniture. Might find something there you like.

I was thinking of Michael Fortune's Contemporary Dining Chair (http://www.tauntonstore.com/contemporary-dining-chair-printed-plan-michael-fortune-011254.html).

You could change the shape of the seat back a little to a less pointy shape.
