Our local club was doing a fundraiser and one of the offerings was a 1-day "How to turn a sphere" course with one of our local members. Two of us were lucky enough to be winners and took the course. These were my first and second sphere.

Hard maple. Both started as 2-11/16" diameter cylinders. The large one is 2-11/16" diameter. The small one is 2-5/8" diameter. Sanded to 400 and then burnished with 0000 steel wool. Coated with 1 coat of Gel Hickory finish and two coats of wax hand buffed with paper towels.
