A couple weeks ago I saw a well loved single phase Delta Dj-20 on eBay in my area. The price was good, though not spectacular, starting bid $800 and BIN of $1200. Of course SWMBO said that was too much right now. The auction ended with no bids. So I thought what the heck, I sent a ridiculously lowball offer of $100 to the seller expecting immediate rejection. He countered at $350. That a great price, but I countered again with $300. Silence for almost two weeks.
4:30 this afternoon the seller called and said if I could be there before 5:00 it was mine for $300. I told my boss I needed off a half hour early and drove across town arriving with two minutes to spare. They loaded the Dj-20 with a forklift and I drove home very slowly. I had to get help from my neighbor and dad to unbolt the jointer from the stand and lift it out.
A little bit of steel wool and some wax and its starting to look pretty good.

Wow, but why didn't you want to spend 3 times as much for something half as good?

Great deal Jamie,

Looks like you got a great jointer.

Nice buy. I use a 12 year old 6" Jet at work, and I have a 20 year old DJ-20. A huge difference between the two.

Outstanding!! Good deals can be had, but it takes patience. My last addition is this lathe for $350 and delivered to the shop too.

Time to go check E bay and Craigslist.

wow you got lucky on that one, congrats. I have to admit, I would have jumped on the 350. If I had countered with 300 I would have only waited untill the next day with no responce and reoffer the 350 asking price.. CONGRATS!!!!!!!

Thanks everybody! SWMBO informed me the max was $250 when I started my jointer shopping. It was easy enough, once I found this one, to talk her into an extra $50.
Is there anybody out there who has needed to tighten the bed adjustment handle on a DJ-20 or other variant of this design? The in-feed handle is loose and I hope there is a way to tighten it without having to unbolt from the base again.
