I just finished this piece today. Grant (my step-son) got engaged Friday,
so this will be a wedding present to Grant and Natalie.

The wood is Cherry Burl, and I did a turquoise inlay around the top rim.
The diameter is 6.25" and the height is 2". The finish is just a single coat
of walnut oil (more layers to be applied later). It very much has a
'painted desert' look to it. Natalie is part Native American,
so it will be appreciated by newlyweds.

The turquoise went 'outside the lines' in a few places, due to the voids
in the wood along the top rim, which carries on the rustic theme of the bowl.
I just put a little blue tape around the inside of the rim while sprinkling
in the turquoise and it filled the nicks perfectly!

That is not easy to pull off Dave!! I did one out of silver maple and turquoise 5-6 years ago in the same fashion. You really pulled it off well!
