I recently picked up the LV LA block plane and I have a question about the relation of the mouth and the amount of the blade that is exposed and the amount that is cut/shaved... Any hints on the optimal way to get really thin shavings aside from a razor sharp blade?? I would think that it is best to just take off as little as possible with more swipes rather than hog a bunch at a time.

Michael, you want a tight mouth and thin cut to get the best results. Good luck with your new toy!

Yes Michael. thin wispy shavings..........gradually.

Always test on a scrap so you get the feel of the plane, tweaking the depth a touch, etc, etc...

Enjoy your new finisher!!!!

Thank you all. I was not really sure how all the parts worked together. Guess it's practice, practice, practice. :D
