Shop air purifier connect to DC?

I have seen a few shop made air purifiers that are self contained, but never one permanently connected to a DC (like the Gorilla I am currently waiting for :) Is it a bad idea to forgoe a separate motor and connect to the DC or are there other reasons for not doing this? Noise maybe? Power consumption?

This has been brought up a few times on the forum. For the life of me, I can't remember why it is not done. Probably becuase you can get HVAC blowers so cheaply and then you don't have to run the expensive cyclone.
