The 3rd option takes in more scenery, passing Mono Lake. But 3/4 of your drive will be classic western desert, 100 mile vistas, high temps (100-110 degree days this time of year), and few places to stop for gas, food, or water. Far different than anything in the UK. Now I understand why you were asking about keeping cool drinking water in your other post. Take a few snacks along in addition to plenty of water and don't get below 1/2 tank of gas. Enjoy your trip, it's some beautiful country.

Is your priority "getting there fast" or would you rather take more time and see more scenery?
