So I am attempting to build a dust shroud for my Sliding Miter Saw. Rather than having dead square corners in back, I decided to cut off the corners at 45. Now I have 5 sides I need to miter. How do I figure the miter angles? I am thinking 22.5 but am not sure.

Thanks all

So as not to do your thinking for you :) - draw your layout out on a table and use a protractor to tell you what the angle should be.
If you don't have a protractor using a bevel gauge to pick up the angle, transfer to a piece of wood and cut with your miter saw, which will reveal the magic ° that you need..

5 pieces cut at 22.5 degrees will give you this:

It was a slow day. :)

Project complete 22.5 it was and it fit perfect. My next question is how to cut prefect 45 degree angles from large sheets?

Table saw would be my approach.

A track saw is now my approach. Couldn't be easier or more accurate.
