Its been a few years sense i did this work for Alanis Morset through Ross Rayome her good friend. Today i found a video of it on MTV. It was on of those jobs that just don't come along everyday. I was brought on board to clad the 20" concrete peers to look like temple posts logs and make the doors from carved shouters that were salvage during the 3 gouges dam project that flooded many ancient towns. much of it from temples over 300 years old. we made all the woodworking to hid the ducking for AC in the ceiling to look like temple roof work to and had to make a teak shower.
every thing needed to look hand done and i had to make tools to do some of the textures. It was a lot of fun this work . The pic are just scans of photos so the quality is not that great . matching the very old to new work was hard but rewarding . Much of what you see are my solution and designs to the problems of working in a high rise of solid concrete.
this is a 20" peer covered with old single plank barn boards and made to look like a single log. the edges where the 4 board join were worked to look like bark edge so that one would not see the joints. I think there were 5 of theses in total with beams to hide ducking.
