Its been a few years sense i did this work for Alanis Morset through Ross Rayome her good friend. Today i found a video of it on MTV. It was on of those jobs that just don't come along everyday. I was brought on board to clad the 20" concrete peers to look like temple posts logs and make the doors from carved shouters that were salvage during the 3 gouges dam project that flooded many ancient towns. much of it from temples over 300 years old. we made all the woodworking to hid the ducking for AC in the ceiling to look like temple roof work to and had to make a teak shower.

every thing needed to look hand done and i had to make tools to do some of the textures. It was a lot of fun this work . The pic are just scans of photos so the quality is not that great . matching the very old to new work was hard but rewarding . Much of what you see are my solution and designs to the problems of working in a high rise of solid concrete.

this is a 20" peer covered with old single plank barn boards and made to look like a single log. the edges where the 4 board join were worked to look like bark edge so that one would not see the joints. I think there were 5 of theses in total with beams to hide ducking.

we adazed all the surface by hand. the fake corner joint to look like a bark edge

the panel is some ant infested cheery i had that i thought went well with the 300 years old carvings.

[QUOTE=Jim Matthews;2131783]More about the doors, please.[QUOTE]

hi Jim not sure what you want to know about the doors but I will give you the run down. there were about 15 doors all different built to fit the shutters and doors sizes for the plan. some were 5' pocket doors. the pics are in process of color with 4 layer added to blend old with new. the construction was full through tenon with square peg and box locks for hard ware. Thanks, JF -

The light colored door with the "ant-infested" cherry panel is sharp.
The panel is well matched by your door - more a picture frame than an entry.

It must be very interesting working for clients that seem more concerned with atmosphere than practicality.
Tight line to walk, there.

Kudos, and a tip of the hat.

Very cool! I wonder if the video you mentioned is archived somewhere on MTV's site?

Beautiful work!
