It's been a while since I've been active on Sawmill Creek. Work and Summer activities have kept me out of the shop. It was a nice day today so SWMBO and I decided to take a drive and do a little antiquing. We stopped by a place we'd not been to in a while. I knew there used to be a guy that had a decent selection of tools so I had fingers crossed. I only buy user stuff and have most everything I really need so it's always a crap shoot. Bingo! I scored a Stanley #59 Doweling Jig complete in original box, a Spear and Jackson Backsaw with split nuts, and a Stanley #603C Bedrock Smoother from about 1930. The #59 looks unused, the saw is straight as an arrow, and the #603 is in great shape too excepting 80 plus years of patina and a few white paint specks. It's going to clean up great. $19 for the plane, $22 for the dowel jig, $34 for the saw. Not garage sale cheap, but nearly so.

Wow...nice find!

This does make me feel a little better. I am still second guessing myself, but I passed on a #604 round-side today at an antique shop for $36. It was in pretty good shape (for the most part), but it had a busted handle and it was missing the lateral adjuster.

+1 on the saw - Nice lines on the handle, and the medullary ray is divine - - This side of the continent has virtually no Bedrocks though, I have only seen a couple at other woodworkers places and never one in the wild - the #3 is a beauty - Yeah, major suckage to you!!

Incredibly nice finds, good to see this stuff going back to work in an actual wood shop.
