Recently completed two buckeye burl turnings 1) Jr. Statesman rollerball--Rhodium/Blk Titanium metal finish. It has a 20 coat CA finish. 2) HF 5 3/8" W x 2 5/8" with a 1" opening. Thickness is about 1/8". This has been finished by an oil dip and then Beall buffed. I noticed today after buffing the HF, that with the black and light colors of the burl that it almost looked like marble. I was also wondering if the familiar black in the buckeye burl is a result of spalt or is it just the natural color of the burl? C & C welcomed.

I see a lot of pens in Buckeye Burl... but hardly ever a HF. And Wow! That is really nice. (oh, so is the pen)

Great looking stuff Steve! BEB is easily one of my favorites. If you ever need some blanks stabilized...let me know!

Great looking turnings Steve, the hollow form is so nice and the pen is a real eye catcher. The buckeye is really a fascinating wood, and really lights up your turnings.

All the BEB I've see has a lot more lighter coloring in it.

Harry, I have another blank that has little or no black. It will be interesting to see how turns out.

Very nice. BEB is my favorite choice for pens and fly rod seats.
