I just made a new right side table extension and wanted to do away with the 20" cast aluminum left side extension to get rid of the black marks it makes on my stock. I made a new left side extension from some melamine board with some 3/4" oak around the outside. Looks great but....the Bies fence rails only go about 5 inches left of the main saw table so my new 20" left extension top will likely not be supported well enough.

Looking for some ideas on support. One I came up with is to use 1" angle iron and make a diagonal brace to lower part of the saw base. Not sure I would like the look of that. What ideas do you guys have??

Thanks

George

Why not sand the aluminum down to bare metal with something like 320-400 grit and hit it with a couple of coats of spray laquer.
