Some of the laser cutter/engravers have the capacity to engrave on a slope. Can someone tell me what that means? Thanks Marty

My guess is that it's referring to "rubber stamp" mode where power at the edges of the engraved area are graded to create a sloped edge __/--\__ rather than the usual (nearly) vertical edge __|--|__

Called rubber stamp mode because that's the sort of sloped edges used on rubber stamps to help stabilize the protruding design and keep narrow areas from slipping sideways or rolling over when pressed into the paper to create the stamp image.

Martin, if the rubber stamp thing is not what you were looking for, when cutting letters on a rotary engraver out of .032" Rowmark for ADA signs the bits are usually 20-30 degrees so it leaves a slightly beveled edge, this was the standard for years until lasers started coming into mainstream use, now it seems that the straight/laser cut letters are more of the norm because a laser can cut ADA letters so much faster than a rotary. Universal does have an expensive attachment (the HPDFO) that will, if focused right, produce a similar beveled edge. The ADA laws do not specify a beveled edge however, FWIW.
Hope this helps,
Paul
