I recently used a Powermatic 719T mortiser and it was so much nicer then my current craftmen model. I'm wanting to upgrade now and just noticed the Grizzly G0488 heavy duty mortiser. Anyone have any experience using one?

Wondering how it compairs the the Powermatic 719t?

Not to answer your question but, you don't say where you are but have you checked Craigslist for the Powermatic 719T in your area? Or checked nation wide on (Powermatic XXXXXXXXX site:craigslist.org) You may save some moneys on a used mortiser. Tom

I have a 719, (non-t) and it works OK up to 5/16 or maybe 3/8. Bigger than this, and a bigger machine is the way to go. The grizzler machine looks a lot like the powermatic, and it's made in Taiwan. Probably the same machine. I agree with the used idea though, why pay more?

I check Craigslist routinely looking for a deal.

Anyone used a Laguna Platinum series Mortiser?

Looks very nice and slightly better price then Powermatic.
