Bowl measures 9"x3". Turned dry on a Jet Mini VS. Power sanded from 80 - 320. Finished with 1/3 BLO, 1/3 Tung Oil, and 1/3 Mineral Spirits.

That sure is pretty Loy. One more confirmation of the BLO/MS/TungOil mixture. Man!...I've been saying for two weeks that I'm going to try it...and still haven't.

Very nice bowl though...I love the inclusion.

Hey...I just thought of something...The inclusion with the figuring coming off of it looks like the Energy Ribbon in that Star Trek Movie a while back.... Well...maybe not. Nice bowl though!...again. I'll go away now.

You did it justice! I love the bark inclusion. Going to have to mix up some of that finishing brew. It really pops the grain.

Everything about it is beautiful, Lou.

John,

Mix you some up in a babyfood jar to begin with. It doesn't take it long to set, so mix it in small quantities. The other brew you can try with very good results is: BLO/POLY/MS mix or TUNG/POLY/MS. The both apply and buff really well and even with the POLY in there, it doesn't really have that "plastic" feel to it after buffing...but does have a nice sheen to it.

Way nice, Loy!!! The inclusion is cool, but the general grain on it is wonderful, as is the form and finish. Well done!:)

Thanks for all the compliments. I started turning last fall and found this forum shortly after. I have gained a lot of knowledge from lurking around here. Thought it was time to share.

Oh, and John, Thanks for getting my name right! :D

Thanks Ed. In fact I broke a magnet in the mini's motor making this piece. The piece was dry and I was using a half inch bowl gouge. Combine that with impatience and the result is a big oops that thankfully JET is going to warranty.

It's time to upgrade! I am trying to decide between the Jet 1642EVS and the Powermatic 3520a.

Nice bowl Loy. I really like that inclusion. John was right about the Star Trec energy wave.

Nice use of that curly piece of Myrtle. The inclusion is just icing on the cake. Beautiful stuff.
