It seems very to find mass produced wooden pulls / knobs but I am having trouble finding craft made ones with finer wood choices. I realize that this is a great opportunity to start a turning project but I don't have a lathe and am not planning on going there anytime soon.

I have not settled on a profile yet but are there any sources of wooden knobs in wormy maple that I can choose from ?

thx

Wormy maple pulls? I don't think you'll find commercial ones. I think you have two alternative possibilities. One would be to use a more common species like cherry, which you can find in commercial pulls. The other would be to make your own pulls. You don't need a lathe. I've posted about making designing and making wood pulls http://www.sawmillcreek.org/articles/9/ , http://www.sawmillcreek.org/showthre...lls&highlight= , http://www.sawmillcreek.org/showthre...ull&highlight= . None of those used a lathe. Other folks have posted on SMC about their shop-made pulls. SMC's search function will find those.

I've got wormy maple if you need some. Do you have a picture or drawing of what they would look like?
