View Full Version : Lumber source for handsaw tote blanks?

I had this question buried in another post but I think it will be more effective to start a be thread on the topic.

I am going to build my first handsaw, a 12" dovetail saw and have all the components except for the wood for the handle. I checked my scrap piles and there is nothing in my shop worth using so I will need to buy a piece of wood for the project.

what are some good suppliers of blanks suitable for saw handles? Depending on price I may be interested in something exotic or rare.

My local Woodcraft has a great selection of small pieces. I bet they easily have 200 different species. All under 24" long and fairly priced.
