View Full Version : Trying to do a Deep Mark on a D-2 Steel

Alright guys trying to get an Idea on this I'm trying to do a deep Mark on a Gage. After I'm Done Marking it will be sent out for Black Oxide hence why the deep Marking. Any Ideas? My current setting are P/100 S/2.0 HZ/45K and Z offset -.025 any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Eddie, i assume you are using your Flex, quite a rare machine and i dont think anyone else on here has one,
Firstly you will need to be using the fibre setting as the co2 wont deep engrave metal.
Secondly the frequency you have maybe a bit high, peak power would be about 30 khz so lower it.
Speed of 2, but 2 what, i assume 2 inches a second, thats slow but probably good for what you looking to do.
Most important is focus, at the speed/power/freq you should be getting sparks, the sparks are little bits of material, no sparks no material removal.
