This was my weekend project, Daniel Chaffin's Ashi Bench from issue 207 of Fine Woodworking Magazine. Made from cherry and will be finished with natural Danish Oil. Fun project where the jig took longer to build than the individual pieces. Going in my office.

That is a very nice looking bench that will look super in the right decor. Well done Dominic.

How much did the wood cost for this build? Nice job!

It was about $90-$100 of cherry. About 9-10' of 5/4, 6' of 4/4 and 6' of 6/4. You can pick up the dimensions in FWW# 207(July 31, 2009). FWW's last issue had a spread on the construction of a smaller version of the matching trestle table shown in the # 207 issue. Something has drawn me to his work. Contemporary lines with a classic Arts & Crafts feel to the pieces.
