Please add the equipment and software you have to your signature. I can help you if you're using CorelDraw but not if you're using other software.

Mike I thought I added it. I will try to redo it. But here is the tools I work with Trotec Speedy 300 Flexx, Engrave Lab 9.0, CorelDraw X6

After you have created an item to be filled select "post script fill" from the fill tool flyout. Select hatching, then adjust the settings as you'd like them.

If you save the file as a pdf you can re-open it and adjust colors or individual parts of the fill.

Mike,

IIRC, Engravlab has more features for hatch/island fills than Corel does.
Eddie has both programs to pick and choose.

I am worse than a novice with Engravlab. For me it's a text only program. I don't do any drawing with it at all. I export my Corel drawings to Engravlab.

I will have to give that a try today. Tony just like Mike Im learning new things everyday, Im learning to use both CorelDraw and Engravelab at the same time so I will definitely have a lot of questions. This is a way better forum than the others!

The way I do it is to create the object then on the engrave menu select create tool path. That will open the window shown below with all the fill options.

What kind of job would I use hatching on?

The only time I can recall using hatching with the laser is the job pictured below. I use it as a fill quite often when doing diamond drag work.

As you can see, it takes extra time so an extra charge is in order.

Eddie,

Hatching or hatch fill is generally used for creating tool path for rotary engravers to rout-out an larger area that single pass will not accomplish.
With laser you don't need to do that unless specific pattern are being engraved.
