I often find myself trimming something or working a convex curve with wide chisel, bevel down, and found myself thinking that I do this just enough it might be worth picking up a carving chisel or doing a double bevel on one of my less-used chisels just so I can get the handle at a little better angle for somethings, when I noticed these new guys available at TFWW and Lie Nielsen:

Not doing a lot of carving, I was apt to pass when I saw them at TFWW (only available as a set) but LN is carrying them singly - I might have to pick up the widest one, the form is just kind of appealing to me . . .

This photo at Lie Nielsen : http://www.lie-nielsen.com/images/2003calendar.jpg shows how they taper in thickness towards the bevel, and makes them look pretty thin getting towards the tip (although it's hard to tell where the bevel starts and that of course plays into it ) - if they put a single bevel on at the factory, it might make a nice traditional paring type chisel, particularly if they could make it a little longer. Joel or Thomas should get on them about that.

While they are most excellent lettercarving chisels they are way way to short to be paring chisels and the sides done bevel. Auriou probably can make proper paring chisels - but it's a different animal than a carving tool.
