I had to take down one of my 35-40 year old Dogwoods. 6-8 1.5"+ branches that are 12-18" long. The trunk is about 2.5' long tapering from 4" to 2". Currently looks like a caveman club.

Hoping I can get a couple small bowls out of it.

Tool handles, pens, bottlestoppers, a small bowl or two, maybe a small hollow form or two. I already have two mallets, but I'm tempted to make one from this.

Hated to cut it down. Being a neander, I used loppers and a bow saw. Green dogwood cuts much faster than dead dogwood.

Sealed an in the basement.

After a full day of yard work in the heat, I am ready for steak and beer.

dogwood is good stuff, let it split and then use it, Mary Lacer recommended it for throwing tops

Great stuff for handles and especially wedges & glueblocks. Years ago I cut a 10" & 12" and doublewaxed and alum. foil capped the ends and about half did not crack "yet". Good luck.
