This is a little something I have been thinking about doing for a while now. I have had the bees for several months now, but just got around to doing one.

I think the ornament stand detracts from the quality of the picture, but it is what I had on hand to hang this on.

Comments always welcome!

Thanks, I do ornaments for the family, an idea I picked up from the late, great Dale Nish. I may steal the design for this years set.

Glad you like it James........hope you get to make a few. I will probably go with maple next time around as it won't eventually darken over time like Osage Orange will.

That's probably a good idea since most beehives I have seen were white. A nice lite piece of maple with something dark for its "base" would look good I think. Haven't been much for including miniature birds with with my birdhouses but a beehive practically begs for a bee.

Neat idea Roger, I like it when something different is turned, it's a cute little thing, I'll bet you would sell a ton of these if you had the inclination.

One of these years, I will find that inclination Jerry! ;) Thanks!

Really cool Roger, I went and bought the bees today, hope you don't mind but they are on the way to find a new home. Wally

Go for it Wally! This is a neat way to do another type ornament.........that being said, it is my personal opinion that the size of these bees requires one to make an ornament a little larger than some of the birdhouse ornaments we usually make........just to get the hive proportional to the bee, and don't forget the opening size as well.......the one in my pics here could be just a tad smaller, but is okay.
