My wife wanted a box to put her wrapping paper in so this weekend I used a few wood scraps left over from my last project. Pretty simple but it made my wife happy and it matched the cabinets in our laundry room. Mitered corners all around, rabbited bottom, white oak ply and maple trim. Finished with natural stain and three coats of wipe on satin poly. Got to keep the wife happy.

Happy wife. Happy life. And I don't want to show this one to her. Good idea.

Thanks John, my wife has always kept her wrapping paper rolls in the laundry room in a basket and it was always tipping over. This should work well for the intended purpose.

Gordon, that looks great and I just love it when you use up the scrap and don't have to dump it.

The only thing is now you have to make a lid for it.....:D

I (heart) scraps!! & threads about using scraps!!! I had the big ugly metal plate thing on the wall of one of our rehabs. I made the cover up for it out of mostly scrap material. Other than one small 3/4" x 1.5" x 10" piece of oak & the hardware, the rest was all scrap.

Great looking holder for the wife. I wouldn't call that beautiful wood scrap; just wood in search of a project, :D Nice work.
