Wow, if only people would pay for things like this today. I'd love the challenge of making something like that. But it would take a long time, which means it would be very expensive. I'm sure it was expensive back then, but there were royalty who would pay for things like that.

Thinking along the same lines. I wonder what that would cost if someone were to commission that piece in today's time. With no previous example. All original engineering. $100K? $200K?

My guess is it would only be for royalty today as well. Like NBA or MLB or rolling stones kind of royalty. $250K minimum. And there is a market for it in that crowd. Just get them before they run out of money. Well not the stones but the others :)....
