Thom, I've done similar projects, on a somewhat larger scale. IMO, if that bookcase is weighed down with books (I suspect your daughter is unlikely to do that), but if, you probably would see some issues with sagging somewhere. I remedied this possibility with casters hidden in the base. Nice job. It's a great idea to make room for an extra peice of furniture when wall space is limited.
