I worked off and on, between projects this past winter on a built-in desk, dressers and bookcases for my daughters room. I drew out the design and went to work. Wood for the top was mohagony darkened slightly before topcoating, paint grade maple and baltic birch plywood also used. Finish is Target EM6500 white followed by EM7000 high gloss topcoat, except for the desktop which is Waterlox. The top scribed in almost perfectly by implementing some great tips from SMC! LOTS of crown and base cuts to trim out the project, I cant count how many trips I made up and down the stairs and out to the shop. Was my first with MDF crown, I'd use it again in a heartbeat given the price. I'd change a few design flaws on my next built-ins, but live and learn. Excuse the stool, its a "desk chair" till we can come up with a better solution.

That is superb. I love your finish. I'll have to note this.
I bet all that trim work was fun!
I also love the inset doors.

Jeff, what do you spray with?

Thanks for all the kind words, Prashun I spray with a Graco hvlp system, I believe it is the finish pro 9.0. I started spraying with a compressor driven hvlp gun that I purchased from an auto parts store. I could get a decent finish but the gun was very finicky. I decided to upgrade to a really good system, it has been worth every penny. My finish quality has improved greatly, I credit alot of it to the equipment and the ease of adjsuting the gun.

Looks amazing Jeff!!! I see you mentioned what you sprayed with, but when I search for Graco Finish Pro 9.0 I don't find anything with that specific make and model. Any chance you could check the exact make and model and maybe post a pic? It turns out I've been painting more than I expected and a quality sprayer would sure make sense for me now.

Thanx!!!

Michael,

Here is a link to the finish pro series, if you look on the page you will see the 9.0 listed http://www.graco.com/us/en/products/contractor/finishpro-hvlp-sprayers.html.
I looked also at the Fuji systems as I feel they are right on par with Graco, the deal maker for me was my local Sherwin Williams store sells them, plus they were running a promo
if you bought the system, you got an extra gun for free. I use one gun strictly for water based clears and the other gets all the rest, (paint, shellacs etc.). BTW I have sprayed latex paint with a #7 tip and thinned out a bit, worked great.
