I am completing a walnut hall table now. I'd like to make a wood pull for it, but am stumped for designs; I'm having trouble visualizing how it'd look. If anyone has a link to pulls they've made or thoughts on design for one, please post. I know, machine cut dovetails. I'll take the slap on the wrist for that, but my Incra Positioner just makes it too easy..

Thanks

Prashun --

That's a very pretty table.

I've posted about making designing and making wood pulls http://www.sawmillcreek.org/articles/9/ , http://www.sawmillcreek.org/showthread.php?100283-More-wooden-knobs-and-pulls&highlight= , http://www.sawmillcreek.org/showthread.php?126804-Yet-another-wood-pull&highlight= .

However, the pulls I posted mostly are for contemporary furniture. They don't seem right for your Queen Anne table. I'd be inclined to go with a very simple turned walnut knob. Well, probably two of them. Maybe something like 103KW6 on this page -- http://www.whitechapel-ltd.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&show=&Offset=0&SortBy=code-asc&Category_Code=wknob&CpValue=&CpField=

Thanks a lot for this. I read your article and was inspired when researching this and was inspired.

I thought about a simple wood knob; but am not concerned with period appropriateness.

I want the knob to add a little flavor and character without being distracting.

Adding the knob is the second most stressful aspect of woodworking in my mind. You have already completed the most stressful act (finishing). Well done by the way. For me, I would keep it simple and go with a round pull, maybe 1 inch dia, made out of a dark wood or ebonized.

This article http://www.finewoodworking.com/woodworking-plans/article/4-custom-pulls-that-please-the-eye.aspx was a good one for ideas.
