Hi,

I have a Redsail X700 50w laser and have been very happy with it.

When I first got it I was cutting 5mm leaving a glass like polished edge with no marks at 90% power and 5mm/s.

Now I am getting vertical lines on the cut edge so the face does not look polished, settings have not changed.

Any ideas what I should be looking at to get the finish back to the way it was?

Many thanks

Several things could be happening.

1. Your eye is more discerning now.

2. Your lenses/mirrors need cleaning/replacing.

3. Your tube has lost power.

4. Your artwork is causing different results.

5. Your material is causing different results.

6. Your focus is off.

7. Your air supply has somehow changed.

That's just 7 things off the top of my head.

To add:

8. The belts etc could be dirty

Hi John,
Yes, first ,take off your mirrors and lens ,make it as clean as possible
second ,if not work, then think about the laser tube may losse power

These two points are more important

Best Regards

Thanks for your replies.

I have a sample from months ago and there is a distinct difference in quality to the cuts now.

mirrors have been cleaned and set, focus has been adjusted to the best of my ability.

The cutting speed has stayed the same so I don't think there is a power loss in the tube.......it gets used but not all day everyday.

Artwork is unchanged as it is the same item.

Air supply has not changed.

Same material but the manufacturer may have changed something?

I will take some photos and upload them.
