I am starting a project to build a dining room table from a large live-edge slab (36x108). Can anyone recommend a Houston, TX area mill or supplier that carries inventory? I'm open to local or imported hardwoods (haven't made my mind up yet). ALSO, if you have any ideas or experience in this type of project, please pontificate freely :)

Try Brian over at BC Woodworks. Count your fingers before you get there and after you leave.

I met a guy at the Houston Woodworkers Show who has a sawmill just South of town. He has some nice stuff for very reasonable prices.

M&G Sawmill in Huntsville Texas.

Google them. You will want to go see for yourself.

A short drive to Bastrop will lead you to Brandon Berdoll Sawmill. He ia a super nice fellow, has a great operation, and unlike many sawmill operations Brandon's slabs are kiln dried. He has lots of pecan, mesquite, and other slabs in stock, and can also surface them for you on his proprietary planing system.
