I haven't been out in the shop much lately, been busy with other things but I did manage to get in a few hours this week.
Nothing special, just a couple of pieces that I was able to squeeze in.

I turned this one on Monday. I had a nice blank of spalted ambrosia maple that's been sitting around for awhile, and decided to go with just a simple bowl. It was pretty relaxing to turn a nice basic form and not have to think about any embellishments.
It's 3 1/2" x 7 1/2" and I gave it a generous slathering of danish oil, which it soaked up like a sponge. I'll add more DO after the bowl has dried out a bit.

I turned this one tonight from a block of mesquite. I decided on a hf with a natural edge, but again went with a simple form and decided on this form for it's ease and speed in hollowing. I wanted to add just a little something, so I decided to pierce the sapwood band at the rim.
It's finished with a couple coats of antique oil.

Oh, the size is 2 3/4" x 2 3/4".
Thanks for looking!

The simple maple bowl is well done (as usual) and will be perfect for a gift to someone. The mesquite HF is great and the piercing makes it a keeper.

The mesquite piercing is exceptional, a great idea, adds a ton of character to the turning.
