They are tightly focused unlike a hurricane which is widespread. Tornadoes also hop up and down...they aren't fully "on the ground" all the time.

If we are using a water hose to wash something , the water will stay together but what force except the will of GOD will keep winds confine to a narrow street but not move paper on the side

Here is a picture of myself and my wife in front of our house with Kevin Durant (of the Oklahoma City Thunder). My shop is the garage you see to the left. It is destroyed as well as all my tools. Very sad day. My family is fine, but still very sad to lose my tools.

Having one of our own hit like this, really brings it close to home for me. Hang in there William, I am thankful your family is OK.

Make a list of what insurance won't replace.
I've got some extra things I'll send to you.

Perhaps you could use a circular saw, some edge guides and a demolition saw for starters?

Just post your address to me by PM - I'll fill a box.

We were in the May 2010 tornado that hit the Love's truck stop on Choctaw Road. Just looking at your house, your insurance company will probably give you a check for the the "Dwelling" value on your policy. You may have to itemize ALL the "Personal Property" to get them to pay for it. They will pay up to the amount on your policy. This is kind of an area where it depends on your insurance company. I know one case where the house was leveled and the insurance company gave them a check for the full amount his policy stated with no receipts or pictures required for verification. Another situation, the people had to itemize every single thing tho they didn't have to provide receipts. They were able to take pictures of appliances and wads of clothes, etc. and was given the amount they had itemized. I'll send you a PM with a phone number you can call if you need anything.

The insurance is going to let me state what I have then give me an estimate on how much they owe me, hopefully it is close to the max and I can just get a check and move on. It has been a trying 2 weeks. The insurance company has given me some problems, but most of that has worked out. My work here (Chesapeake Energy) has been great, they called the insurance company on my behalf (I get my insurance through my job) and ever since then things have gone much smoother ;) I was cleaning the few tools I was able to salvage today and it was depressing on figuring out what I had and what I was missing. But for the next house I am definitely looking for a house with a real shop.

OKC did get hit by a couple more tornadoes last night, thankfully they missed us. If I got hit again I was ready to move out of state :)

OK has had their share these past 10 days or so. We have friends and family in the OKC area. BIL in Yukon. Need to check on them today after yesterday's round. One friend from dog showing had some roof damage, dogs were ok, but was headed out to check on the horses. Haven't heard back on them. Another dog friend lost their house in the one that hit Moore in '99. They are about 1 1/2 miles north of the one that hit the elementary school and caused so much damage and loss of life. They were safe this time. One of my nieces posted this video on her Facebook page. This is from 5/30 and is southeast of OKC, just amazing footage. https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=veNJBosc6EA Stay safe! Tornado season isn't likely over yet. Jim.
