Here is a couple of bowls that I turned yesterday, first is end grain Ash, 6" dia 2 1/2" high with a 3/16" thick wall. Not a pretty as the curly stuff though.
The second one is spalted Catalpa that was a real bear to turn, a lot of tearout on the end grain sides.Wall thickness on this one is 1/4".

Very nice! I'm not sure I'd recognize a Catalpa tree if it fell on me. :o - but I like the wood.

They both look great! I really like the form on the second one. It flows really nicely.

Yea, you might...REALLY big leaves!! (And big, long seed pods at the right time of the year)

I really like the shape Charles...beautiful work!....Ain't that Ash great??!!! Those two would look good on my end tables. hmmm:rolleyes:

Nice bowls Charles! I haven't seen a Catalpa tree since I was in HS and hunting doves...
