Is anybody marketing a lift that will take the Hitachi M12V without me having to drill holes to make it fit? I don't think I care if it's an 'older' gerneration...I just want the lift because it doesn't plunge well anymore. :(

Fortunately (or not) it's stuck in the 'fully plunged' position.

I put a woodpeck plungelift on mine and I didn't have to drill anything. it works great on my table.

The original Rout-R-Lift from Jessem (as well and the Rockler, PM and Jet colored versions) will work just fine. I use it in my table with a PC 7518. I'd probably pick the Woodpeckers product that Tim mentions for a plunger, however, as it's also much smaller than the older Rout-R-Lift design.

Have you looked at a Router Raizer (may be 1 word). I have it in my M12V it works great. It was easy to install and the support from the vendor is great.

The router raizer doesn't allow above the table bit changes though, does it??

Go with the Woodpecker plunge lift, but first you will have to free up your plunge mechanism on the router.

Does the "plunge lift" allow above table bit changes without that Xtreme Xtenstion bit replacement?

Anyone try the woodrat plunge bar? $39.95 MSRP

It seems that I saw a review a while back that liked it.

Take a look at www.woodshopdemos.com (http://www.woodshopdemos.com). John Lucas documents using the M12V in a router table using the Router Raizer. In order to do the above table bit changes, you have to knock out the "ears" which are in the router's base and use a bent wrench.

I personally do not like the table inserts. More places for dust and another alignment task with the table top.

It works well for me.

I have one although not on an MV12. I would highly recommend it. Makes for easy height adjustment in the router table as well as when hand holding the router.

The Router Raizer does allow above-the-table lift adjustments. However, you do have to drill a hole in the router table support plate to allow the crank access to the mechanism, which is installed in one leg of your plunge router. The directions come with a paper template for your specific brand and model of router to set up for the hole drilling. The RR is very simple. relatively inexpensive, and works well. The company is now marketing their Xtreme Extension, which is tightened into the router collet and holds the bits higher for above-the-table bit changes. The bit is held in place by an allen setscrew, like the quick change collets that are sold for Porter Cable and, now, other router brands. If you do get a Router Raizer, be careful about drilling that access hole. I drilled too far and rounded out the hex socket that the crank fits into to turn the mechanism. However, when I called Router Technologies in Des Moines, I found some very friendly people who sent me a replacement part free of charge. For my purposes, a $90 Router Raizer is as satisfactory as one of the $250 to $450 machines.

Thanks Dave, its nice to know that there is another woodworker in the "Neighborhood". Rochester is only 80 miles from Decorah IA, do you ever get down this way?
Have you ever been to Hartzell Woodstocks place in Lime springs Iowa? A great guy to deal with, and a real good selection of lumber at great prices. http://www.hartzellwoodstock.bigstep.com/map.html
