I'm thinking about purchasing a mitre sled from Rockler with a drop off table...
Does anyone know if this is a good one or waste of money...??
Do you suggest a different kind? Thanks very much

I like my Miter Express by Incra.

Sleds are handy to have, but for segmenting, I would make one myself. Spend some time and dial in a dedicated sled and your future set up time will be really easy.

I think the Incra's are pretty accurate and worth looking at.

I built a sanding csled for for a 12" disc sander from the plans that Curt Theobald shows in his first Segmented turning DVD. I really like how it works for sanding pieces. I rough cut them on the miter box with his cutting jig.

Hope that help.

I second the make your own, and take the time to get it right on. The more side in a segment the more accurate you must be. When making my sleds, if you move it a hair, you are off being dead on. Don't usually have to sand wedge. I have a extra chop saw that I picked out of the trash, and use it for 15 sided segments. I set other size on table saw with two wood strips in miter slots, just make sure that you have no side to side slop. Good luck.
