View Full Version : New adapter allows Domino 500 cutters on Domino 700 XL - game changer?

Has anyone seen the new adapter from Seneca Woodworking (no affiliation with them) that allows you to use the Domino 500 cutters on the Domino 700 XL? If it works smoothly and consistently, this would definitely be a game changer for me in terms of not having to buy the 500 for those few times I would need the 4-6mm cutters. I currently have the XL, but felt limited from time to time on smaller stock.

So can anyone spot problems I might have using this from time to time (other than the weight of the 700 itself)? Feel free to burst my bubble.

does it allow you to correctly adjust the fence for the thinner stock you would use the smaller dominos on?

Does the width come out the same also? I haven't used a 700 so I don't know. (though I suspect the size of the 700 would discourage me from doing this more than rarely; the 500 is a handful...)

Iwonder what happens to the mortise width. The original Domino cuts a very tight mortise. I would assume the machines use different geometries, so the XL would not necessarily cut the same width mortise as the original.
